Location: Fredericton, Moncton or Saint John, New Brunswick

Horizon Health Network in beautiful New Brunswick is looking for 2 Pediatrician - Endocrinologists to join our team! The ideal candidate will have experience working within a collaborative environment as a member of an interdisciplinary team to provide safe and quality patient care.

Job Duties:

These responsibilities are basic. Additional duties may be assigned from time to time as may be necessary to the operation of Horizon Health Network:

  • Provide ambulatory care in a clinic setting.
  • Provide inpatient care as required and requested by the Clinical Department Head.
  • Practice in a collaborative fashion as a member of an interdisciplinary team and consult with members of other health professions as appropriate.
  • Participates in departmental medical education initiatives.
  • Pediatric Endocrinologist will not be obligated to participate in General Pediatric call schedules.
  • Work in collaboration with the IWK Pediatric Endocrinology group to help provide pediatric endocrinology coverage for the Maritime provinces.
  • articipate in medical practice that is compatible with the Health Authority’s mission, values and strategic directions.

Hours of Work:

Hours of work are normally provided between 0800hrs – 1600hrs Monday to Friday, unless otherwise agreed upon by the Service/Department Head.

Practice environment:

  • Existing strong diabetes educator teams in Moncton, Saint John, and Fredericton.
  • Endocrine nurse resources in Saint John, expandable to other centres.
  • General pediatricians already manage most type 1 diabetes, pumps, and on-call diabetes issues—specialists not expected to carry 24/7 family call.
  • Opportunities in growth, adrenal, thyroid, type 2 diabetes, transgender care, and obesity management.
  • hysicians are not obligated to participate in general pediatrics call.

Academic and professional support:

  • Links to IWK and potential integration into academic rounds, journal clubs, and peer support.
  • Potential to be involved in academic activities both within Horizon and more broadly with Dalhousie University / IWK.
  • Remuneration:

    This is a Salaried position. Remuneration is based on the New Brunswick Medical Pay Plan. The current rates range between $241,748 to a maximum of $293,904 annually (locums receive 10% of the base salary in lieu of benefits) based on qualifications and experience.

    On call remuneration is Fee-For-Service which is a direct compensation between the physician and Medicare New Brunswick.

    ***Compensation is currently being updated as part of provincial negotiations. New rates will be shared as soon as they are finalized.

    Qualifications:

    • A medical degree is required.
    • Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent.
    • Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.
    • Proficiency in English is required. Bilingual skills would be considered an asset.
    • In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills.
    • Good attendance and work record.
    • Physically able to perform assigned duties.

    Incentives:

    Candidates may be eligible for a Provincial Recruitment Incentive of $50,000 with a 2 year Return of Service Agreement. (Locums not eligible.)

    Moving Expense Allowance with a Return of Service Agreement. (Locums not eligible.)
