Assistant/Associate professor

University of Alabama at Birmingham
Birmingham, AL

Job Description

The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at the University of Alabama at Birmingham is looking to expand its team of 11 physicians and 8 advanced practitioners. Located in central Alabama, the division serves Children's of Alabama, the sole freestanding children's hospital in the state. Rated as the 6th best US city to live in by livability.com in 2026, faculty find a comparably low cost-of-living, short commutes, and an active community. As a Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligible employer, faculty are able to access the PSLF program.

Supported by a robust team of clinician nurses, diabetes educators, social work, research nurses, research coordinators, and administrative team members, faculty have opportunity to explore academic interests including quality improvement, investigator-initiated research, industry-sponsored research, and education endeavors.

Inpatient call is 4-6 weeks per year with nursing triage line for after-hours caregiver calls. Outpatient clinics are located in Birmingham with no satellite clinic responsibilities. Faculty interested in metabolic bone disease would have the opportunity for direct mentorship in an established metabolic bone clinic supported by an endocrinologist, nurse partitioner, and orthopedist.

Candidates must be BC/BE in Pediatric Endocrinology.
